In 2020, while in-person events needed to be modified or were outright canceled in response to the risks of COVID-19, the Mashable Home offered a virtual space for consumers to hang out, browse, and engage with live content. The Home also served as an alternative spot in place of Mashable's usual, annual physical presence at SXSW. The panoramic, interactive home featured various custom rooms that directed visitors to shopping experiences and games in partnership with influencers and brands, such as Walmart and Dell, and Mashable's own content.
I and other creative members of Mashable's team were directed to conceptualize and design visual assets for various parts of the experience, such as designing characters for the games and animating UI elements.
A live version of the site can be still viewed here, but some may content may not function as originally published due to changes in the CMS since 2021.
